I recently helped my father reside a section of the house so this island table was constructed for my place in Boston out of the Staging planks we used as well as some 4x4 fir stock for the legs. The top is breadboard style and the legs are fastened with hanger bolts for easy removal. 3 coats of poly for the top and 2 coats on everything else. Probably one of the least expensive ways to make a table, provided you have all the tools already ha..
I also just started an apprenticeship with Chris Igleheart and these are a couple of practice pieces i did a bit ago. Above is a stainless steel box I tig welded and below is a lamp holder turned out of aluminum stock..
Lastly some Bronze castings from last semester. On the left is a somewhat abstract bust of Jenns dog Chance and the right are goat skull eye socket medallions.
Currently I'm working on an overly artsy charcoal chimney and doing some technical drawings for some Bronze bicycle components! So maybe ill get into the habit of keeping up with this thing more often

This is a table I had made about a year ago. It was inspired aesthetically by woodstoves. It has a graphite finish with butchers wax. Also the leafs are removable as you can see one is resting on the table top.

These Hold Fast straps are awsome. Wicked comfortable, durable, and look good.

I winterized the bike by wrapping a cut up bike tube around the frame, also swapped out the pedals as well as the seat/seatpost to make it less desirable to steal now that im in Boston.

Wood/Metal Bike Prototype

The idea behind this project was to create a piece with the view of sustainability. This is a reclaimed/modified bike, more to come soon(er or later ha)!

Anyways..

Here's the bike all glued up, with a finish, and all the components on...

I ornamented the stem to add a bit of class
These were horizontal dropouts that i cut and re welded to be track ends

It rides fairly well, my only complaint is the rake of the fork is very dramatic... so I might go back and fix that. Overall I think it turned out pretty well.

I'm planning on continuing to refine and build these bikes... I'm viewing this bike as a prototype of future builds so expect to see more!

Also I plan to start producing handlebars of various bends/laminates for sale... I'm wicked excited!

so this is the jig in a vacuum press that is gluing up 11 veneers of red oak with epoxy to form the handlebars...

This is the start of a possible bike rack? They're the cut offs from the tubing I turned, they're a bunch of triangular strips, I glued them into the recesses they create then cut it in half and glued the two together width wise, ill post a photo of that soon...

New Bike Project

So I've been working on this new bike, I'm replacing the top/down/ and seat tube with Black Walnut/Maple. I also re-welded the horizontal dropouts into track ends. I'll hopefully be making the handlebars and the seat design this week.

veneered black walnut handlebars , possibly paint near the stem to look like antlers with leather grips, should be pretty sweet.

1991 Toyota Pickup Ext. 4x4 auto. To make a long story short, we had it checked out, the mechanic wrote "smoked" on the diagnosis so it got sent back. The amazing thing is despite the list of problems it still ran well, power steering was a bit shot, a true testament to Toyotas.

Anyways this truck led us to another which in a week or so will hopefully be in this ones place. Its a 1991 Toyota Pickup Std. 4x4 manual, Almost completely rebuilt.

TALL BIKE: Update

So the Lamplighter is functioning..barely. The bottom (top) bracket still needs grease, i want to change the wheels, a brake, and the handlebars are actually a long seat post, but the test ride went well. pretty gnarly

Seth helped me out to make this tall bike. Here's the first faze completed...conjoining the bikes. It's not perfect i.e. the top fork skews to the right, but it does have a chain guard that makes up for that. Will upload more photos very soon.

I mounted one of two heads my boss had laying around the barn at Walker Creek...

Here are some pictures of the end/coffee table I made, the table is unfinished in the photos but very close to being done. The top is made from salvaged Hemlock floor boards from a chicken coop. The base is comprised of Red Cedar branches. Its 18" tall and the table top is 24"x24".

I salvaged two of these chairs from the neighbor of the place I work, Walker Creek Furniture of Essex Mass. The rush seats were torn apart leaving the chairs worthless to most, I replaced the rush with leather.

I just got a digital camera, but it was the day after this show, so there aren't any photos for it. However this show was one of the best I've been to in a while. If you get the chance to see any of these bands do it. Also the Proselyte gave out free CD's and demo's...can't beat that.

I just found these bikes the other day, there the raddest thing I've seen in a while, Check em out. In 2005 Craig Calfee went into production of these Bamboo Bikes. There are 7 types of Bikes you can buy: Road, Mountain, Triathalon/TT, Cyclocross, Tandem, Singlespeed/Fixed Gear, and Recumbent.

We ended up talking to the owner who told us stories of the good ole days (60's and 70's) and urged us to start another revolution like the one he had taken part in. I found this movie online because it had Tom Waits in it as well as a solid soundtrack featuring Gogol Bordello and Joy Division. After reading the plot I went straight out and bought it. It has easily become my favorite movie...its gonna be a tough one to beat. WATCH THIS MOVIE.
